Women Leaders Meeting Briefing: Towards Fair and Sustainable Agriculture!

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., we had the honor of hosting the second Women Leaders Meeting in Wallonia-Brussels, bringing together influential and committed women from the agricultural sector. This event is part of Nsunga ya Kongo’s initiatives to encourage and support women leaders to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the agricultural sector.

Context

This meeting was highly anticipated after our first meeting, held at the DAIPN. Thus, we continued to explore how women can play a vital role in the development of the agricultural sector.

Objectives of the Meeting

The objectives of this meeting were multiple:
– Understand their role and potential: Help each participant better understand their impact in the sector. – Joining forces: Encouraging collaborative work among women leaders to make their voices better heard.
– Contributing to sustainable development: Identifying concrete actions to promote inclusive development in the agricultural sector.

Through rich and dynamic exchanges, discussions focused on the importance of solidarity, collective structuring, and active engagement. These elements are crucial for initiating joint projects that will meet the needs of our communities.

Conclusion

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that at the next meeting, the women leaders will work on concrete strategies to:
– Organize effectively: Lay the groundwork for developing activities in agricultural cooperatives.
– Launch collaborative projects: Implement initiatives that will benefit women and the entire sector.

We thank all the participants for their commitment and their desire to advance agriculture through their leadership. Together, we have the strength to transform our sector!

Stay connected with Nsunga ya Kongo to follow our future activities and initiatives! 🌱💪

Closing of the Month of March: Investing in Sustainable Development by Empowering Women

On Thursday, March 27, as part of the closing ceremony for the month of March dedicated to investing in women for sustainable development, we organized a meeting with women leaders at the N’Sele Presidential Agro-Industrial Estate (DAIPN). This event marked a key moment to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of women in the agro-industrial sector.

The day began with a brief presentation by the organizer, Nsunga ya Kongo, led by its president, Ms. Yoland Longo. She emphasized the main objective of our meeting: to raise women’s awareness of the development opportunities offered by the agricultural sector.

The participants then enjoyed a guided tour of the facilities, including greenhouse plantations (vegetables, peppers), a livestock feed manufacturing laboratory, points of sale, and an above-ground fish farming room. This discovery led to enriching and promising discussions on the challenges of women’s entrepreneurship and the creation of a resilient agricultural sector.

We would like to express our gratitude to the women leaders of the various organizations who participated in this meeting. Together, we laid a solid foundation and outlined future actions, including the creation of women’s cooperatives and economic interest groups.
